BUT MY NORMS, said the Chief Justice who personally destroyed public faith in the courts.

It's absolutely gross to see Roberts get all bent out of shape coming to the aid of fellow jurists after otherwise doing everything but crown Trump emperor himself.

What he's really upset about is Trump publicly "thanking" him on national TV for giving him blanket immunity from prosecution. That must have really pissed him off. But Trump did it precisely for that reason- mob bosses love to draw attention to their relationships with "legit" leaders. It's a form of intimidation.

This would be the same Chief Justice who complained that people aren't respecting the court that he spent his career delegitimizing? Yeah, that tracks. The hypocrisy blinders on this man are large enough it's amazing he fits through doors.

According to this administration, unless the hiring/accomplishment/notice is about a white male, it's DEI. They are the only ones who may be celebrated on pure merit. Good to know my entire career can be reduced to DEI!

I work in biomedical research, and we have a few NIH grants that are focused on increasing internship and career training opportunities for underrepresented people in STEM. Of course these grants have DEI language written in to them. More than one project lead is talking about removing all DEI language to be able to keep their grants, and my thought is that we have to do that, then we might as well lose the grants anyway, because we've changed their entire aims and purpose. I still just feel like way too many people are bending over to this new regime waaaay too quickly and easily. It's sickening.

It really is beyond enraging. The Republicans' argument that outlawing DEI will eliminate discrimination and make hiring decisions colorblind is absolutely backwards. What they are practically salivating all over themselves for is the notion of being able to discriminate freely and without limits.

As evidenced by the fact that the DoD took out language that said any military contractor can’t segregate their facilities. A policy that has been required for decades until now.

So, are they claiming that they're only eliminating pages that specifically honor minorities if the address contains DEI? I mean, why not just remove DEI from the address, then? Oh, wait, because they're NOT just eliminating pages with DEI in the address, right? So petty and pathetic.

It's worse than that: they added the DEI when deleting the original webpage.

"On Saturday, US army Maj Gen Charles Calvin Rogers’s Medal of Honor webpage led to a “404” error message. The URL was also changed, with the word “medal” changed to “deimedal”."

If you're not following @amandasmildtakes on IG/Threads, you really should - she has a background in US history and makes the great point that the image of Trump "defying court orders" are dependent on the external bluster/propaganda about it from Trump himself and an attempt to project strength-

If you read the court filings, they are much more muted in front of an actual judge and attempt to make actual (although often stupid) legal arguments and then appeal, etc, which they are allowed to do. Still not great, obviously, but we shouldn't just believe what Trump's propaganda is trying to say about he's not going to obey courts - don't acquiesce in advance!
