Guess he finally got tired of his face getting eaten. Has no one to blame but himself for the collapse of his congressional career but also lacks the self-awareness to recognize that. This is the end result of hitching your wagon to Trump - it happens to all of his sycophants and yet they never learn. He thought that by pandering to the MAGA faction he could control them, but fails to realize that chaos is the point. At any point these guys could've slowed down if not stopped the MAGA train, but instead leaned into cynical opportunism in the naked pursuit of power and its biting them all in the ass

Bring on House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries already and lets see some shit get done. The GOP majority hasn't produced even one piece of meaningful legislation.

Yeah, that's a huge fuck you to all of them. I honestly didn't think he had the balls (or actually had any balls) to do it.

Right? a 100% whiny baby eff you at that. He literally got what he agreed to and is all in his feelings because...he got what he agreed to. Somthin,' somethin' next phase. Fox news commentator? I almost, just almost feel second hand embarrassment for him. The schadenfreude won out though.

I understand his quitting, but I very much BLAME him, since he enabled this nonsense by being so craven to get the gavel that he gave away all the power of the office. And I laugh at yet another Trump/MAGA sycophant learning the hard way what happens when you give up your dignity to suck at his teet because you want "power". Don't look so powerful now, do you Kev?

I'm sure Gaetz is very concerned about people being ousted from Congress before a conviction because one of these days someone is going to remember about that pesky child-trafficking investigation he's embroiled in...

While I do appreciate the pettiness of this move I really can’t muster up much more than “Well… bye.”

It takes a special kind of asshole to be loathed as a lying snake by both your own party and the opposition party. Incredible how bad this dude was at politics.

I honestly didn't expect McCarthy to have enough self-awareness or self-respect to finally leave an institution where he is clearly not wanted.

They are all a bunch of thin-skinned children - not even children. Imagine - you have been elected by your neighbors to do a job and, sure, your colleagues are literally the worst and they hate you, but this is how you act?

Brian Higgins of NY is also leaving sometime in February. So Santos, Higgins. Johnson and now McCarthy are 4 special elections they need to win in first few months of the year.

That means that for those first few months and depending on results of those elections (although they are all moderate to conservative districts), their lead is going to be a mere 2-3 votes. So even less getting done more than usual.

Does Newsom get to appoint someone until the special election gets held? Because that would be awesome.

Couldn’t be happening to a bigger, floppier, more smelly, prolapsed asshole. But it’s nice to see these Republicans be undone by the exact same idiots they used to encourage. Kevin fucked up and didn’t realize how far gone the MAGA cult has gone. They are the true believers and they’ll turn on every single establishment Republican. Serves him right.
