The only thing hilarious about George Santos is that his Long Island district was dumb enough to elect him and that they'll probably replace him with a more stealthy competently corrupt R.
Mmmaybe? LI is trending red but half the reason Santos got in is because the Dem who held his seat was running for gov in the primary. The other half is that the NY Democrats just totally shat the bed following redistricting last year and the DCCC was in the incompetent af hands of Sean Patrick Maloney who pushed a popular congressman out of district to run in a safer district himself, only to not bother to campaign and lose to a total pud.
CounterPoint. Fetterman's move is excellent troll game, it's not MY money, and he's not MY politician in any way. Plus Santos going to jail is on the justice system to enforce, not us.
Also, and I got this from Crooked’s What a Day, but getting a Cameo from this guy puts your credit card number THAAAAAAT much closer to George Santos and that ain’t what you want.
One thing Santos said kind of got to me, though. He said this sets a precedent. Specifically, that it means congress can expel a member before a conviction. I wonder if the GOP will try to have a ton of left leaning congresspeople removed if/when they take over again...
I hate to say it because he shouldn't be anywhere near our halls of government, but they should have stripped him of any committee assignments (if he had any) and benched him until the next election. Now, he's being removed before being convicted of anything, and he can play the victim until, hopefully, he's in prison. Or, maybe nobody cares, and his 'constituents' are embarrassed that they were conned, and they're glad he's out. But you just know, there's a group of people out there that are going to take up his 'cause' and this will never end, because now he's a victim of *something*.
Also, does he get unemployment, since he was fired?
Probably not generally, since there is a prohibition against being fired for misconduct.
But also, for him personally, one of his charges is actually for unemployment fraud; he claimed unemployment benefits during the pandemic while he was still at his investment firm and while running for congress. So doubly no.
Just went to his page. It says it's Temporarily Unavailable. Also, it says it's $20 for a message but I assume that's just a voicemail? He has a 5 star rating based on 6 reviews.
I would be willing to bet most of the people buying Santos Cameos are the same people who think the Lincoln Project did good things during the Trump years.
Fetterman could have hired Snookie again. God knows she will use the money in less terrible ways, and that's saying a lot, because Snookie. There is, however, a chance that someone in her family knows someone in The Family that is somehow connected to a corrupt senator (gasp! shock!), so maybe pick a whack job from a less...connected part of the country.
Fetterman's troll game is strong. But often I think there are better things to do with one's time.

What do you expect from Long Island: the land of Amy Fisher and Joe Buttafuoco.
Remember them?

I approve.

I hope I'm being paranoid.
I'm so annoyed that the first drag queen we got in Congress was Santos. What a waste.

Any of you who use Cameo: can you see how many people have bought one besides Fetterman?
I get why Fetterman did it and I get why everyone is annoyed with him for doing it. That’s all I got.
